2005.... And What can be done next to stem the Red Tide ??
I know!! ...... 1 set of Tyres must last through Qualifying and the whole race. (Not exactly Health & Safety is it)
Unfortunately this proved to be the rule change that ended The Ferrari dominance.
The F2005 was not the car that the F2004 was and Renault & McLaren had made major improvements through the winter But 2005 was Michelins year and the Bridgestone Tyres were not as well suited to the new rules.
As A result Alonso takes the championship on 133 points, Raikkonen 2nd on 112 and Michael 3rd on only 62.
The same story is reflected in the constructors Tables
Renault take the title with 191 points, McLaren-Mercedes are 2nd on 182 & Ferrari 3rd on 100.
With only 9 podium finishes and the only 1-2 finish was the USA G.P when all Michelin runners withdrew over safety
concerns leaving only 6 cars to race - Ferrari had a poor year
