2000 and Michael Has a new
Team mate - Brazilian Rubens Barrichello.
The F2000 looks the part and shows great promise in testing and McLaren-Mercedes still looks like the main, and what turned
out to be The Only, Opposition.
17 Races on the calendar and Michael wins 9 Has 12 podium finishes and 3 retirements
Rubens takes 1 win, In Germany, has 9 podium finishes and 4 retirements.
Mclaren prove to be the only real challengers with Hakkinen taking 4 wins & 11 podiums, Coultard with 3 wins & 11
podiums.
Ferrari & Mclaren are the only race winners all season and Ralf Schumacher, Giancarlo Fisichella & Heinz-Harald
Frentzen are the only other drivers to make very occasional appearances on the podium in 2000.
Michael at the wheel
of a Ferrari at last Takes The Drivers Title with 108 points as After a 2 Year reign, Hakkinen looses his Title and is
second with 89 points, Coultard 3rd with73 and Barrichello 4th with 62.
Ferrari take the constructors title for the second
year with 170 points, Mclaren 2nd with 152.
The domination of these two is reflected by the fact that Williams-BMW were
3rd with a mere 36 points
This was the start of 5 years of Michael Schumacher & Ferrari domination and off course a
chance for all the wingers & Moaners to emerge from the woodwork and claim it was making F1 boring and change the rules on an almost daily basis.
It was in fact the start of 5 years of some the best and most exciting races F1 has ever seen.
